About me
Hello!
My name is Alix, and I use they/them pronouns. I’m a white, transgender, genderqueer, fat, neurodivergent therapist. I have over 10 years of experience working with many individuals. Outside of therapy, I enjoy reading, spending time with my wife and our cats, and making delightfully smutty embroidery.
My experience
I’ve been a therapist for over a decade. I received my Master’s in Professional Mental Health Counseling from Lewis & Clark Graduate School in Portland, Oregon, and I haven’t stopped learning since.
My therapy style
I believe therapy is a collaborative, relational process grounded in respect, curiosity and caring. I show up as my goofy self and work to create a space where you can, too. This work can be challenging, and I’m committed engaging with the full complexity of who you are.
My goal in therapy is to address the roots and branches of mental health. I practice trauma-informed care blending polyvagal theory, attachment theory and somatic approaches. My work is grounded in how our bodies respond to stress, threat and connection and how those responses can become meaningful coping strategies over time. I’m also aware distress doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Systemic oppression, late-stage capitalism and our intersecting identities shape how we experience the world, and that context matters.
To me, therapy is about:
Understanding what you’re carrying
Making sense of your past experiences and present stressors
Building tools that work for you
Fostering greater clarity, self-trust and connection
I’m committed to accountability in my work, including the awareness of how white supremacy, racism, misogyny, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, fatphobia and classism show up in all of us. In my work and personal life, my goal is to be accountable for my impact towards others.
